Everyone is PUMPED for Stranger Things Season 2 this Friday, right? I was a little hesitant to watch the show last year because I scare easily. However, I just kept hearing so many great things that I settled in for a most excellent Netflix marathon. Now that Season 2 is practically here, I decided that a good Stranger Things cocktail in hand was the best way to celebrate more episodes (and to calm my nerves for the Demogorgon).
I wanted to create a cocktail that was refreshing, but still a little creepy looking. When I think of the Upside Down, I picture dark, stringy, creepy…and somehow this translated into raspberries for me. When I thought about squished up raspberries floating along in a cocktail, I knew that was the perfect way to create the Upside Down.
Stranger Things Cocktail – Upside Down Blackberry Smash
Ingredients
- Blackberries
- Lemon
- Sugar (or simple syrup)
- Berry flavored sparkling water
- Vodka
- Black food coloring
To start, put some blackberries into the bottom of a glass, 5 or 6 will do. Squeeze in a little lemon juice and add a tsp of sugar (or a splash of simple syrup). Lightly mash the berries to release their juice and to create the creepy look of the Upside Down.
Pour the sparkling water on top, but leave enough room for a some ice (if you want) and for the vodka floater. Most of the blackberries will float to the top.
Pour a shot of vodka and add 5 drops of black food coloring. SLOWLY add the vodka to the drink. It should drip down and sink to the bottom.
Now you can enjoy a delicious cocktail and watch one of coolest Netflix shows ever. I am seriously so excited (and a little freaked out) to start this new season. Thankfully my Stranger Things cocktail will help take the edge off so I don’t get too spooked by the Demogorgon.
Are you planning a binge watch of Stranger Things on Friday night?
Oh wow, that drink looks really cool. Love the colour! π
I’m super excited about Stranger Things too! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to watch it until Sunday at the earliest. Will have to stay off the Internet all weekend as to avoid spoilers. π
Thanks! The color is my favorite part…itβs spooky looking π
Yum! Not sure I’ll get to dive in on Friday, but my husband and I will at least start the season this weekend. Can’t wait! Might have to go shopping ahead of time now too π

I’m having to wait for until Sunday to watch it too! I’m going to have to avoid spoilers all weekend!
Iβll have to avoid spoilers too. My husband is not a TV binger so the most I can squeeze out of him is 2 episodes a night lol
