I feel like this has been the summer of space for me. We took a visit to Kennedy Space Center early in the summer, witnessed the eclipse last week, and they’re even re-releasing Close Encounters of the Third Kind for a week long run in theaters starting September 1. Basically, I’ve got space on the brain. Even though I’m only 45 minutes from NASA, we surprisingly don’t have any space themed restaurants or bars nearby. This sent me on a search for the best out of this world (you’re welcome for that) places to grab a drink or bite to eat.

5 Cool Space Themed Restaurants, Bars, and Cafes
Giger Bar – Greyerz, Switzerland

This place is amazing and also creeps me out a bit. This bar is themed and modelled by the Swiss artist H. R. Giger and essentially looks like you’re stepping onto the set of Alien. It’s more of a spot to grab a quick bite to eat, but I imagine wanting to stay a while just to take pictures of everything. The detailing is mind-blowing and eerily beautiful.
Scum & Villainy Cantina – Hollywood, California, US

The Scum and Villainy Cantina started as a pop-up bar, but is thankfully now permanently open. The bar is decked out to look like Star War’s Mos Eisley Cantina and is basically a geek hangout dream. Don’t let the Star Wars theming fool you though, as all fandoms are welcome. They’ve got amazing themed drinks and food and they have games, too. Also, costumes are encouraged, making this the coolest bar ever.
Cappuccino Police – Glasgow, Scotland

A repurposed classic British Police Box is now a very cool (and very cute) coffee shop. This is basically what my dreams are made of. I would be so happy to wander upon a TARDIS and order a quick cup of coffee from the window. I think this is an absolutely brilliant idea, only to be made better if it were actually bigger on the inside and the Doctor was serving.
Le Dernier Bar (Bar at the End of the Universe) – Paris, France

For those that have read Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, you know all about the Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Although we can’t exactly go there, we can try to visit Le Dernier Bar (Bar at the End of the Universe) in Paris. This may be one of the most amazing themed bars, space or otherwise, that I’ve ever seen. With many fandoms covered in the decor, every geek will feel at home here. They have a fairly extensive drink menu and offer more than your standard bar fare food.
New Space Themed Restaurant – Epcot, Walt Disney World
Although there aren’t many details out yet, Disney is opening a new restaurant next to Mission Space in Epcot. Guests will feel like they’re traveling into space for an amazing dining experience in the stars. I’m actually very excited for this. Epcot as whole has some of best Disney dining options and I hope this new restaurant is as amazing as it sounds so far.
Which of these space themed restaurants or bars would you most want to visit?
Holy moly Switzerland. I’m not sure if that’s super awesome or too creepy?! Haha. Living in northern Minnesota we don’t have any neat things like this anywhere close to where we live. Planning a massive U.S. road trip and collecting fun oddities to stop off at.
It was surprisingly hard to find many places like this at all. There used to be more space themed restaurants, but they’ve all closed 🙁 The Giger Bar is definitely super creepy, but very cool!
I love the theme. The Tardis coffee stop is on my bucket list.
The TARDIS one is on my bucket list as well 🙂
The bar in Switzerland looks terrifying, but I really want to go!
It totally gives me the creeps, but in a good way!
The first one is super cool. Almost like an alien skeleton cave.
It’s definitely the most well done 🙂
Wow!!! Too many wonderful places!!! That Tardis!
I know! I’m in love with the little TARDIS cafe…perhaps it’s bigger on the inside? 🙂
