A month ago, my Con bestie Karen pulled up in my driveway, shouted get in loser, we’re going to Comic Con, and we set off on our adventure to Tampa Bay, FL. This was our first time attending Tampa Bay Comic Con and as always, Cons are even more awesome with friends. The drive there was easy, parking was a breeze, and aside from their no outside food or drink policy, water included (really!?!?), we had an awesome time.
This Con was hopping and I saw some amazing cosplay while there. The zombified Ursula-Ariel duo was probably my favorite. They even had a shark balloon!
The people were also really cool and I had quite a few interested conversations. Old Han honestly made the best faces in his photos and I thought his cosplay was spot on.
I was able to attend TBCC as a media guest for The Fairytale Traveler. While I’ve done some Cons for them before, it hasn’t quite been like this. For this particular Con the blog owner, Christa, was actually moderating quite a few panels and they were with some fantastic talent: Charlie Cox, Jack Gleeson, Sean Aston, etc. Since I’m her right hand woman over there, I was able to go backstage with her before the panels…and I met Charlie Cox!!!
He walked up and my little heart was going so fast and I had to remind myself to breathe, because he’s just a person, too. Except OMG he’s Charlie Cox! He was honestly so incredibly nice, very smiley, and just seemed thrilled to be there. I even got to shake his hand – basically my inner fangirl was screaming.
We hit up most of the celebrity panels and had a fantastic time. We decided to do a photo op with Charlie Cox because who wouldn’t want a photo with Daredevil. Basically this was the Con of Charlie Cox for me and it was a great experience.
Speaking of cons and friends, Karen and I have launched our joint blog today, To Nerdly Go. This is going to be a vlog and blog about our nerdy adventures in and around Orlando as well as nerdy travel tips, geeky food and libations, and more. Be sure to stop by there and check it out!
