For the first time ever, I did an Alice in Wonderland themed look – a Queen of Hearts cosplay!
So I know that you know that I know that you know that I love Alice (ha, sorry, couldn’t help myself). What first got me into Alice was not the Disney animated version, but a made for TV miniseries from the 80’s. It was live action and totally awesome. The Jabberwocky was the scariest thing EVER to me, but that entire show/movie is what lured me in. Alice being able to go through the looking glass was the coolest thing ever. When I was a kid and hanging out in the dressing rooms with my mom, I would pretend to walk through the tall mirrors and go into my own Wonderland.
With that said, I also love burlesque. We have some amazing troupes here in Orlando and these are AWESOME women that leave me feeling empowered and not objectified. This past weekend there was a Curiouser and Curiouser Alice themed burlesque and when I say they absolutely killed it, they really did. I’ve been to many a show and this was by far my absolute favorite. The costumes were amazing, the music was perfect, and both the men and women performing were on-point. Naturally, I couldn’t go to this show without some sort of casual cosplay, so I decided to embrace a Queen of Hearts cosplay for my look.
I threw together my own crown, because how can one be a queen if she doesn’t have a crown. I made it using gold glitter foam that I hot glued together and then glued onto a headband. I have a serious amount of Alice themed jewelry that I wore for this (Cheshire Cat necklace and Queen of Hearts ring) and no Queen of Hearts look would be complete without a little BRF (bitchy resting face).
Queen of Hearts Cosplay – The Look
Most of these items were already in my closet – black leggings, black and red pumps, and I picked up the peplum top on sale at JCPenney. For makeup I did a gold eyeshadow and winged black liner along with a very red lipstick that I only put on the center part of my lips to look like a heart.
Do you think this look embodies the Queen of Hearts? Have you ever been to a burlesque show?
Looking foxy, Lady!! I love it subtle cosplays and I hope you had a wonderful evening out!
Aww thanks! It was a very fun night 🙂
I love your lip color! That lipstick is awesome. I really want to read the original Alice in Wonderland book but I haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Thanks – It’s a lip crayon which makes making a heart shape a lot easier 🙂
I totally remember that TV movie! I loved it too. And the Jabberwocky was the scariest thing EVER! Cute outfit. Glitter craft foam is the best.
So glad I’m not the only one that remembers that movie! It was so good – and seriously, glitter craft foam forever!!! 🙂
You look so great! I’ve always wanted to check out a burlesque show.
You’re so sweet! Burlesque shows are so much fun 🙂
The look is out of this world amazing! I seriously love it! Burlesque is always a fun show and very classy in most cases.
Thanks! I’m glad you love the book. We have a pretty decent burlesque scene here and even a nerdy burlesque group 🙂
OMG! I Love it!! It reminds me a little bit of the Burlesque style. I think that you’ve nailed it! And also the Crown! (What a patience you had to create it!!! I mean, I wouldn’t have much myself.)
I was trying to go for a bit of a sassy queen so I’m glad that shows 🙂 The crown was really not so bad at all – maybe 15 minutes to make lol.
I love it, and you look so great! Glad the show was wonderful. I’ve never been to a burlesque show but always wanted to go!
Thanks! You should definitely go to a show in your area if there is one – it’s always fun 🙂
I love this look, and you crown is so cute! 🙂 I’ve never been to a burlesque show, but I’m really hope I get the chance someday.
Thanks – I feel like I need to make more little fascinator headband thingies 🙂
Love it!! That lipstick is on point! And that shirt is really really cute!!!!!!!
Thanks!!! I felt so great in this whole outfit – and a good lipstick always makes it better 🙂
I love this outfit you look stunning. My favourite details are the lovely heart ring and the way you styled the lipstick! Queen!
That heart ring is definitely one of my favorites – thanks <3

Thanks – I had fun wearing this 🙂
