Spring is officially here. Granted, I suppose we never truly left summer in Florida since it NEVER ends, but for most of the country and beyond, the weather is just beginning to warm up. Warm weather means we can get out of the heavy layers of clothes and start wearing lighter things and possibly showing a little skin (ooh la la). One thing I like to embrace when the weather changes is a good body scrub. As a Potterhead and a lover of beauty products, I came up with this Butterbeer scented (and flavored if you get a little carried away) DIY sugar scrub to help make my skin look, feel, and smell fantastic.
Butterbeer DIY Sugar Scrub
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup solid coconut oil
- 1/4 cup melted coconut oil (or almond oil)
- 2 tbsp. melted butterscotch chips
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
To make, just mix everything together and store in an airtight jar. It should last a month or two depending on how often you use it.
You guys, I can’t even lie at how crazy amazing this stuff is! Not only does is make my skin soft, but I kinda just want to gnaw on my arm all day. I tried to think of the flavors and scents I noticed when I indulged in both the Butterbeer I made and the delicious one from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Although there’s no coconut in Butterbeer (that I know of), coconut oil is one of my favorite DIY beauty ingredients as it’s really moisturizing and nourishing for the skin.
Seriously though, this DIY sugar scrub must be from the things magic are made of because it’s truly fantastic. I have crazy dry skin during our brief winter and I’ve only used this for a week and my legs already look so much better. While it’s hard to resist eating this stuff, since it smells THAT good, it’s so worth the extra few minutes it takes in the shower to use. As Donna & Tom would say, treat yo self!
