It’s Friday, which means time for 5FF. In honor of Galentine’s Day, this week’s 5 Fandom Friday theme is Womances I Love. I love these friendships because in all of them I see some of my own friendships reflected and remind me of what kick ass friends I have in my life.
Leslie & Ann
They are the original Galentine’s Day womance in my opinion. They’re seriously the embodiment of friendship. Leslie’s descriptions of Ann always make me laugh and I think I took Ann moving away harder than I took anything else on the show. They are truly Best Friends Forever.
Jessica and Trish
I literally just finished this show last night, so this friendship is fresh on my mine. These two were really unlikely friends that came together under the worst of circumstances. They found solace in each other and found that they had their own protector in each other, even if they didn’t want to be saved. In the season finale, my heart was in my throat thinking of what Killgrave planned to do because I knew Jess could never live with herself if that happened (sorry, trying not to spoil), but it all worked out in the end.
Taystee and Poussey
Their banter is THE best. They know how to really support each other through some dark times and insecurities, and it killed me to see them fight last season. I was so nervous that they wouldn’t be able to save their friendship after V came and destroyed it, but their true friendship shone through in the end.
Leslie and April
Opposites attract with these two and it makes for the best friendship. While Leslie is the ultimate optimist who loves work and hugging, April is like the angsty teen who skips work and would rather be left to her own devices. Over the show April matures a bit and finds a mentor in Leslie. Leslie helps to bring her out of her shell and see her potential in making a difference. It’s a beautiful thing 🙂
Abby and Olivia
I like that their friendship isn’t always rainbows and unicorn farts. They clearly have their issues and grudges, but they work through them. Having a boss-worker relationship on top of being best friends has got to be one of the most difficult tests on a friendship, but they did it wonderfully.
Can’t wait to see what other Womances everyone else is loving. Happy Galentine’s Day to my fellow geek girl bloggers – enjoy the weekend!
