My 7th anniversary will be here on December 13. Although Mike and I don’t typically go big for anniversary gifts, we do like to find fun things to get that correlate with the “traditional” gifts. Now that I’ve discovered so many new fandoms and geeky obsessions (and understand my husband’s love of the nerdy life better) my gifting wants have changed. So today I wanted to share some traditional yet geeky anniversary gifts.

Geeky Anniversary Gifts
I decided to compile a list of Traditional Geeky Anniversary Gifts for any other couples out there that like to stick to the tradition, but with a little twist.
1st Anniversary – Paper
For this one, books immediately come to mind. Perhaps your significant other loves the Harry Potter series – the new illustrated ones would be perfect or maybe you have a comic lover that you can have your own likenesses made into comic art. The possibilities on books are truly endless – comics, art made from book pages, etc. Maybe you even pen your own geeky tale to share with him or her.
2nd Anniversary – Cotton
Nerdy tees anyone? I never thought I’d say this, but I cannot get enough nerdy tees. I would’ve loved these I Love You, I Know shirts for our second anniversary. You could also get a matching pair of nerdy pajama pants.
3rd Anniversary – Leather
I love the idea of leather jewelry. It looks effortless and a little rugged and just holds up well. How amazing are these Game of Thrones bracelets…just thinking of Khal Drogo makes me swoon a bit. A leather bound journal like this Zelda one would also be great if your SO is a writer.
4th Anniversary – Linen, silk
I have to say, there are a lot more linen options for gifts now than when I was looking 3 years ago. Linen prints, pillows, and even tea towels are all perfect with a little geeky flair – like these adorable geeky STEM napkins or this awesome Harry Potter house print.
5th Anniversary – Wood
I love the idea of wooden gifts. Harry Potter wands, cutting boards, even jewelry and watches can all be personalized and made from wood. I got my husband wooden cuff links, but they’re sadly not as amazing as these Lord of the Rings ones.
6th Anniversary – Iron
Iron is a bit tricky – it’s heavy and not necessarily pretty in the traditional sense. If you’re with a beer lover, an iron bottle opener would be fun or something related to Iron Man or even elemental iron a la the periodic table. For the ladies, a personalized iron Lily (think Snape and Always) or even an iron rose like from Beauty and the Beast.
7th Anniversary – Copper/Wool
This is my anniversary year this year. I’m planning to get some copper collar stays engraved (probably with I love you, I know and our anniversary date because Han + Leia = swoon). I’m really hoping my husband gets me an adorable felted critter, specifically this Ewok, because it’s made of wool and oh man is this thing cute.
8th Anniversary – Bronze
I tend to think of the world of Westeros when it comes to bronze. I love these gorgeous Khaleesi dragon egg earrings and a bronze crown ring would be pretty awesome, too. Keys also come to mind when I think of bronze. Who wouldn’t love a bronze key to the TARDIS for an anniversary gift – time travel with your love? Sign me up!
9th Anniversary – Pottery
I think making handmade pottery together would be great for this anniversary. If crafts aren’t your strong suit though, mugs, bowls, and more can be had with lots of nerdy goodness to chose from. I’ll be reminding my husband of these Quidditch mugs in two years 🙂
10th Anniversary – Tin
If your SO geeks out over tea, there’s so many fandom teas out there and cool tea tins as well. There’s also a lot of amazing vintage tin items out there so if your SO has a fandom for something that’s been around for ages, you’re bound to find a tin item for it – maybe a cool lunchbox or something. There’s also tin jewelry, hand stamped tin art, and let us not forget about the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz.

Do you have any other geeky anniversary gifts that you would love to have or that you’ve received?
I loved this! So cute!!! But what about the 12th anniversary? Even though my ex and I aren’t technically together anymore, we’re still “seeing” each other, and this coming year in March would be our 12th anniversary. I’m just curious what you’d have in mind for that one. 😉 We weren’t married, but we were engaged.
12th anniversary is silk. Not sure if your guy loves supernatural as much as you do, but found a cool supernatural silk scarf for you and/or tie for him. Silk undies could be fun, too 😉

This is such a fun idea!! I’ve always had trouble with the ‘traditional anniversary gifts’ thing because I’m just not creative enough to turn them into good gift ideas=P I’ll definitely be borrowing from your list for my cotton anniversary<3
It can be hard getting creative with some of them – hope this list helps 🙂
I love these ideas! I wish I had though of these myself, but I think I was at a point in my life where I was denying my nerdy tendencies during the early years of my marriage. Do you have something fun planned to write about your anniversary? My 9 year just past this Nov and I’m wishing now I had though about something like this. There is always next year. Haha!
I definitely wasn’t embracing my inner nerd previously, but I’m excited to now with our anniversary 🙂 I’m hoping to post about what we do this year.
This post is adorable. Great ideas!
Thanks – I had a lot of fun finding cool gifts 🙂
Oh these are neat ideas! Okay, Jeremy and I aren’t technically married… but we may as well be.Now I kind of wish we’d gotten each other something based on traditional gifts last year. Hmm, there’s always this coming year! Our anniversary is actually on May the 4th… because we’re that cool. 😀
You can always start for your next anniversary – it’s a lot of fun trying to figure out how to take something seemingly boring like cotton and making it fun. I’m still hoping for our 20th (traditional gift is China) that we just take a trip to China 😀
Awww this is such a great list!! And a great way to get gifts!! I am going to think about it, this year will be our 7th anniversary (I think) LOL
It’s our 7th too…copper and wool 🙂
