Y’all, today is the day. Not just any day, but THE day… the day I begin reading the Harry Pottery series. This day has been a long time coming. I’ve wanted to read the books since I saw the first movie, but for some reason I never did. I think the end of high school + college + beginnings of life made me feel like I wouldn’t have the time to devote to the series. So here we are in 2015, and I am FINALLY making the time to read and enjoy them.
I’ve been told I should fly through books 1-3 and then it starts to get heavier and the storyline more involved. I like the movies and I know I’m going to love the books – I almost feel nervous because of how much I know I’m going to enjoy them. I tend to experience a bit of post-book depression when I finish a book or series – like I literally miss the characters and get in a funk – and I can sense my sadness that it ends before I’ve even began. I just know this series is going to leave a mark on my heart.
To celebrate my journey into the magical world of Harry Potter, I thought a tasty treat was needed. Cookies seemed like a good idea, and what better cookie to have than Sorting Hat cookies for my first day at Hogwarts.
- Fudge stripe cookies – try finding the ones without the hole in the center so there’s less mess
- Orange icing (or if you’re feeling adventurous, a peanut butter icing would be AMAZING)
- Hershey kisses
Take out however many cookies you plan to make and flip them so the chocolate side is up. Then unwrap the same number of Kisses, put a little icing on the bottom of them, and stick it onto the cookie. Voilà – you have Sorting Hat cookies! Simple to make and so tasty.
So I’m off to enjoy the world of Harry Potter. I promise to update along the way and cannot wait to immerse myself in this magical world.
